Sports Nutrition

line

“Aside from the limits imposed by heredity and the physical improvements associated with training, no factor plays a bigger role in exercise performance than does nutrition.”

There is a great deal of scientific information available on the relationship between good nutrition and physical activity, however, the overwhelming amount of misinformation makes it difficult for athletes to know how to design an effective nutrition strategy or chose sports supplements. It is important that the advice followed is from a reputable source, especially when the difference between winning and losing can now be determined by what you ate for breakfast!
Following further studies in sports nutrition Catherine Norton of the Limerick’s Mid West Dietetic Clinic has been accepted as professional member of the Irish Institute of Sport (Irish Sports Council) as an accredited sports nutritionist, qualified to consult with elite and carded athletes. She is one of only two dietitians in the Republic of Ireland holding this qualification.
Catherine consults with athletes and management to develop nutrition plans and life style strategies for a wide range of disciplines from team sports to individual pursuits.
She provides advice on

- making weights
- altering body composition
- eating to train
- eating to compete
- eating to recover
- hydration
